With public sector cuts and outsourcing of interpreting contracts there is much pressure on interpreters’ pay and terms & conditions. These threats to interpreters’ and translators’ livelihood is also placing the future of the profession at risk.
NUBSLI believes that establishing minimum fees for interpreters and translators is an important step in safeguarding the profession and ensuring that the deaf community continue to have access to highly trained and skilled professionals.
The current fee structure applies to qualified interpreters and will subsequently be followed by a fee structure for trainee interpreters and deaf interpreters and translators.
